Positive: Being familiar with the country and getting around, I found the location was perfect for my trip. It was close enough to the beach for me to walk there and there are good shops and services nearby which was very convenient. And even though I brought my own personal hygiene things like toothbrushes, shampoo, etc, it was still good to see that they were also provided by the host in case I had forgotten them. The kitchenette too was suitably furnished; a sizable fridge-freezer, a gas stove with an electric hot plate, pots large enough to cook a sensible meal for a few people, cutlery, crockery, glassware, bin, bin bags, and an actual outside bin to put rubbish in (although you could do with ensuring that it isn't full before your guests arrive). For the price, this was a good place to stay and I would definitely consider staying here again. The host was responsive when needed and not intrusive at other times.
Negative: Although my time of arrival played a major factor, since there was no key for entering the property, the code for the front door could have been sent at least a few hours before I arrived with instructions. That would have avoided the mix-up when I arrived. But I did arrive in the middle of the night, so I do appreciate the host accommodating my early arrival. Also a little pre-notice that payment would be expected up-front would have better prepared me. I had originally planned to stay in a hotel knowing that I would pay on exit. But I changed to this apartment at the last minute because I wanted to try something different. So I didn't even consider that payment could be required up-front. Fortunately, I had the majority of it with me and was able to get the rest once I made it to an ATM nearby.
Summary: It feels like arriving to a second home where everything you need is already there.
